Why kratos kills gaia

She has assigned several tasks to Kratos, such as finding Helios and defeating Ares. Kratos would continue working under the guidance of Athena until he renounced the Olympian Gods in God of War 2.

Although she was sympathetic towards Kratos's anger after Zeus's betrayal, she had intervened as Kratos was winning the fight against Zeus. At the end of God of War 3 , Athena insists that Kratos gives her the Hope from Pandora's box, but Kratos chooses to release it into the world.

Athena, disappointed in Kratos, walks away in her spiritual form. A fan theory suggests that Athena is God of War's main villain. Using Helios's power, the Titan attempted to destroy the Pillar of the World.

Thanks to Kratos's intervention, Atlas was chained to the weakened pillar and forced to carry the world on his shoulders. Ceryx is the son of Hermes and the final boss in the mobile game God of War: Betrayal.

He attempts to warn Kratos about the consequences of his actions as the God of War, delivering the message from Zeus, but Kratos killed him. Kratos was on the hunt for a mysterious assassin, who ultimately got away thanks to Ceryx interference.

Cronos is the father of Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, and Hades. Eos is the sister of Helios and plays a small, but important, role in the plot of God of War's story. Eos also gives Kratos the Light of Dawn ability. Since Eos did not reappear in God of War 3, her current fate is unknown. Gaia is the grandmother of Zeus, making her the great-grandmother of Kratos. She raised Zeus until he was fully grown, but in the Great War, Zeus betrayed Gaia and banished her along with the other Titans.

Gaia and the other Titans were brought forward in time by Kratos from the Great War to launch a surprise attack on Olympus. In God of War 3 , Gaia reveals to Kratos that he was a pawn of the Titans so that they could launch an attack on Olympus. Kratos wounded Gaia, and while she was presumed dead, she returned during the final battle of Zeus and Kratos.

Continuing their fight inside of her body, Kratos impaled Gaia's heart with the Blade of Olympus, officially killing her. Kratos kills Hades in God of War 3 , taking his Claws of Hades weapon and releasing all of the souls in the Underworld. Hades is one of the four gods players can pledge allegiance to in Ascension's multiplayer. Helios was kidnapped by Atlas on behalf of Persephone in Chains of Olympus but was later rescued by Kratos.

Krato decapitated Helios shortly thereafter, using his head as a weapon to reveal doorways and blind opponents. Hephaestus is the father of Pandora, creator of Pandora's Box, and husband of Aphrodite. Zeus had beaten Hephaestus and trapped him in the Underworld's forge for lying to him about Pandora and Pandora's Box creation. Hephaestus tricked Kratos into fighting Cronos, hoping that it would kill the Ghost of Sparta. After defeating Cronos and returning to Hephaestus, the Smith God tried killing Kratos but was killed instead.

Hera made an appearance in God of War: Betrayal, but unbeknownst to Kratos at the time. She released Argos, her giant pet, to stop Kratos from continuing his spree across Greece. Argos was killed by a mysterious assassin, and before Kratos could track the assassin down he was interrupted by Ceryx.

Hera made a brief appearance in God of War 3, sending Hercules to kill Kratos and confronting Kratos on her own after Kratos kills Hercules. Gaia was surprised to see Kratos had survived the fall, stating the blood of Cronos served him well before asking Kratos for help.

However, Kratos remembering Gaia's betrayal instead cuts the vines connected to her wounded hand as Gaia asked if she meant nothing to him. Kratos responded in a show of cruel irony that Gaia was "a means to end nothing more" while Gaia stated she had to face Zeus as the Titans must take down Olympus. Kratos told her this was his war not hers before using the Blade of Olympus to cut off his great-grandmother's left hand, causing her fall to her "death".

Because of this, all Titans grew anger and hatred towards Kratos for killing their beloved "Mother of Titans", with Perses and Cronos wanting to kill Kratos, but were killed by the latter instead. During the second fight between Kratos and Zeus, it was revealed that Gaia survived, replaced her severed arm with twisted tree branches, and was ascended to the top of Mount Olympus.

Kratos is shocked by this and asks how she lives. She sought vengeance on her great grandson for his betrayal and grandson for destroying her world though it likely would have happen if the titans won. She voiced that she never sought Kratos' death, but he has left her no choice before she attempted to kill both Zeus and Kratos, by crushing the battle arena, but father and son fell into the hole on her chest caused by Poseidon 's Hippocampi.

During the third fight between Zeus and Kratos, they fought inside Gaia right near her heart. But, before they fought each other, Kratos used the Bow of Apollo , and the Nemean Cestus to destroy, the material guarding her heart. In the end, Kratos stabbed Zeus with the Blade of Olympus, Gaia's heart gets stabbed as well killing his great grandmother in the process. Like most of the Titans, Gaia is immortal, has great physical strength, and is large in size.

It's also likely that Gaia has the ability to predict the future, because when Kratos went back in time to rescue the Titans, Gaia said the they had been expected Kratos. Villains Wiki. Villains Wiki Explore.

The titan was astonished to find Kratos still alive remarking the "blood of Cronos" served him well. She was in distress, asking Kratos for his help as Kratos, still enraged about Gaia not having helped him in his hour of need, questioned why he should.

Gaia soon begged her great-grandson for help but Kratos started to sever the vines connected to Gaia's snapped-off hand.

Desperate and in pain, Gaia asked Kratos if she meant nothing to him to which The Ghost of Sparta retorted in a show of cruel irony it was, in fact, Gaia who was the pawn, his pawn while telling a pleading Gaia that the war against Zeus was "his war" not hers. Kratos then destroyed the root of Gaia's hand with the Blade of Olympus, sending a screaming Gaia plummeting to her apparent doom at the bottom of Mount Olympus.

This resulted in most the Titans growing hatred and resentment towards Kratos for killing their beloved "Mother of the Titans". Much later, Perses attacked Kratos in shafts of the labyrinth presumably for what happened with Gaia but Kratos killed him instead. When Kratos visited Tartarus , he came across Gaia's severed hand and met with Cronos, who stated Gaia was dead and subsequently attempted to kill Kratos to avenge her only for Kratos to kill him.

When finally having reached Zeus again, Kratos did battle with him before their fight was interrupted as Gaia had returned, having replaced her severed hand with one made of twisted tree roots. Declaring the reign of Olympus ended now, Kratos was shocked that she survived as states she never sought Kratos' death, but she now saw no other option due to the damage he had inflicted upon her Earth.

Zeus commented she should have chosen the other one , but Gaia simply replied she would destroy them both, crushing the Shrine of Olympus in her hands. Both father and son fell into Gaia and found their way back to her heart, where Kratos shattered its defenses, and drew energy from the Titan, causing her immense pain.

After Zeus made his appearance, the battle resumed, until Kratos stabbed Zeus with the Blade of Olympus and ran him through Gaia's heart , she screamed in terrible agony and pain as her heart exploded, killing her as her body collapsed onto Olympus possibly killing all of the remaining survivors while dissolving into dust.

When Kratos awakened from the fall, all that remained of the mighty Titan were large chunks of earth, and some withered trees and branches.

Gaia was once a caring and loving Titan, helping anyone no matter the cost. She even cared for and nurtured Zeus, when the young god was hiding from his father Cronos. However, after the Great War , when all Titans were punished for the crimes of one, Gaia's heart became filled with hatred for Zeus and the Olympians. She became so obsessed with vengeance that she started to rebel against the Sisters of Fate themselves, manipulating Kratos as a pawn and then, discarding him and anyone else who dared to cross her path, only seeking to exact her revenge against the Gods of Olympus.
